  Share the Craziest far out ideas/arguments you have heard about life in the "NEW SYSTEM"

  really the whole thing is ludicrious but it is hilarious and sad at the same time to see grown people arguing about weather there will be cars, planes, eat meat, what about fish, etc in a place as imaginary as oz, yet to them it is reality.. the teaching of a paradise earth was so illogical it really was the first thing that started me on the path to waking up.

  just the thought that someone could greet their beloved spouse who had died only to come to the realization that they could never be together again struck me as so cruel, i didnt want to live there even if it was all true.. i have heard jws say they think we might be able to fly, read minds since we will be able to use 100% and some seem to think life would be an endless vacation, with modern conveniences with no thought to all the processes and work that goes into something simple like a pencil.

  i love the article jwfacts has on the flaws of any theory or teaching of paradise earth.. what are some things you have heard discussed/argued in car groups, gatherings etc when you were in?.

  That story, even as a recount, lacks cohesion and imagery. It also has disturbing underpinning assumptions.

  To answer the topic, an old friend of mine lost his cat in death about 2 years ago, and his greatest desire is to have his cat resurrected and granted eternal life so they can be together forever! He really thinks Jehovah will do do it because of the scripture which says, 'he will ... Satisfy the desire of every living thing," and life would be unsatisfying without his beloved cat. I knew another who thought his late dog would get a resurrection.

  Yeah that's stupid but most parents ignore that counsel thankfully.

  How's this, at one of my last meetings, when I'd learned ttatt, I was out in the lobby cuz I couldn't stand the drivelling slosh-tower study and was talking to the attendant and a bro who was there with his little daughter who he'd taken out because she was ratty. The dad and the attendant started making jokes about beating the kid, though the dad's a pretty laid back guy who wouldn't beat a kid madly imo. The attendant cracked wise about having different belts lined up to choose from, and I said, 'I can't believe you guys are making jokes about child abuse!'

  Just glad the attendant doesn't have kids.

  I think you're right there. At least school is designed with different subjects, activities, sports days, play times, arts, and all that so there's plenty of variety and a sense of momentum.

  As a school teacher I know there are times and places where kids are expected to sit quietly and act respectfully, but I'd never hit a kid to get them to comply, even if it were legal (they severely tempt me though, especially teenaged boys). Kids have different needs, attention spans and tolerances at different ages, and I'm sure all you parents reading this know you can't expect the same from a toddler as you can from a teenager, but they can be trained according to their level of development. Meetings and assemblies are beyond their level, so I always thougt it good when parents brought them colouring books, toys, blankets etc. At conventions a lot of parents would set up in the corridors with their families and have their kids play quietly while they supervised and listened to the talks.

  There is a way to train your kids I believe, a way which doesn't involve beating or boring the poor little things. There is benefit in being trained to sit still from a young age, and it pays off at school. You don't have to beat them into it though.

  so...i have been completely out for 6 months, never df'd, just completely faded...my wife is still 100% active...turns out one of her cousins who is also an active witness is having their birthday...ahem, graduation party this summer.

  my wife told me she wouldn't feel "comfortable" if i attend their parties/gatherings because i don't go to the meetings lol.

  so she and her cousin are planning the graduation party as i type, and they are talking about inviting their school friends etc etc.

  Does anyone remember letter from GB "end is imminent" around 2009?

  my sister remembers, hearing at her congregation, a strongly worded letter from "the society" that hinted that "we may not be getting any more letters from the society, as the end is coming soon.".

  she thinks it was around 2009, or after.. anyone remember this?.

  Rings a bell. But JWs interpret any change as meaning the 'end must be so close!" Remember when they told everyone to keep bags literally packed and ready to go by your door? "The brothers know something, they're really preparing us..." Yep, just like in North Korea where war with America has been 'imminent' for the last 60 years.

  i finished my bible study and progressing in the org.

  You sound like me: got interested when younger, family not thrilled. You're in a good situation. Bible studies fade all the time so they won't bug you for long.

  If you're expected to become an unbaptised publisher soon, buy more time by saying you are like the Boroeans and need more time to search the scriptures. Then fade. Are you a minor with Jw parents?

  The answers to jwfacts question will be a big factor. If you're a convert like me, it's easy because your family probably don't want you becoming a Jw in the first place! If you're born in, it's a lot more complicated.

  Just slowly go. Shed pre study and answering up at meetings. Make excuses for not witnessing ie feeling stressed. Stress has been my friend!

  And welcome to this site. I've found it hugely supportive.
